Where are you located?
We are a foster based rescue, not a shelter. All of our dogs are in foster care in Tennessee but we transport to other areas including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The dogs are transported once their adoptions are finalized.
How Much is your adoption fee and what does it include?
Our local adoption fee in TN is $275, unless professional transport is needed to Lebanon, TN or Bulls Gap, TN. Then the adoption fee is $325. If transporting out of the state of Tennessee, the adoption fee is $495. The adoption fee has to be paid prior to transport and can be paid through PayPal or by calling it in to our vet's office.
Our adoption fee includes transport, age appropriate vaccines (DAPPv, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, spay/neuter, fecal exam, deworming, heartworm test (if over 6 months, and treatment if positive), current on heartworm/flea preventative, and whatever else is deemed necessary by our vet.

Can I meet the dog prior to adoption?
Because all of our dogs are in foster care in Tennessee, we can not facilitate meet-and-greets for our northern adopters. However, if your application is selected for an interview, you will get a call from a Goofy Foot Dog Rescue representative who will be able to tell you more about the dog you applied for and answer any questions you have. We can also connect you with the dog's foster parents. Additional photos, videos, or even Facetime can be facilitated.
What happens if I adopt a dog and decide he/she is not a good fit for our family?
First of all, we try to make sure the dog is going to be a good fit for you from the very beginning! That is why we do interviews, put you in contact with the foster parents, and send any additional photos/videos that are requested. We do our best to consider your needs and the needs of the dog. Dogs are definitely not an "all size fits all."
However, if an adopter decides to give up the adopted dog, they *must* contact Goofy Foot Dog Rescue to make arrangements prior to doing so. Under no circumstances shall the dog be placed on Craigslist or given away to any organization or individual without written permission from Goofy Foot Dog Rescue (this includes but not limited to other rescue organizations, humane societies etc.) If the adopter decides he/she wants to return the adopted dog to Goofy Foot Dog Rescue, the adoption fee will not be refunded.

Do I have to submit a new application for each dog I am interested in?
Yes and no. If you are interested in several different dogs, you can list each one on the application. However, if you apply for one dog today, and decide to apply for another dog the next day, you would need to complete another application. Our adoption application doubles as our adoption contact.
